Kyle Nylund is a professional artist with a studio practice based in Calgary, AB, Canada. He has a BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design, with a Major in Fibre and Minor in Theatre Art. His love for fashion, styling, theatre and dance have greatly influenced his professional career.

Nylund’s fine art consists primarily of acrylic painting, however, various mediums are often used within each piece whether it be ink, pastel, or collage. He is fascinated by notions of what is considered ‘beautiful’, as a result his work often walks the line between harmonious and chaotic. The human figure is a major source of inspiration for him and is found in many of his pieces. Organic line quality, multiple layers and various techniques are applied to each piece before completion.

In addition to his two-dimensional art practice, Nylund also is heavily involved in the world of fashion, styling, and design. In the last several years he has designed and constructed wedding gowns, two collections for Alberta Fashion Week, and produced a line of silk-screen printed scarves. He also has worked as a professional stylist for fashion editorials, as well as store window design, costume for film and theatre, and was a local fashion expert on CTV. His most recent wearable endeavour is his collaboration with MakeFashion, (makefashion.ca) a collective of artists bridging the gap between wearable art and technology.

Nylund offers professional services in painting, fashion styling, and fashion design. He is passionate about collaboration and loves working with his clients; whether that be to create a perfect painting for their home, or pulling together a flawless outfit for an event. Nylund has been featured in several publications, gallery exhibitions, runway shows, and performance endeavours. He is pleased to say he is currently accepting commissions, while finishing a collection of paintings set to exhibit in July 2015.
